Track Teams Compete in Two Events

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams took part in two meets over the weekend.
On Friday night the Huskies competed in the Bucknell University Distance Carnival in Lewisburg. In the women's 5000 meter event Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) finished in 17:38 to earn on a spot on the national provisional qualifying list. Also, Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) ran a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying time of 18:27.71, while Ashley Schuck (Milton/Milton) also ran a PSAC-qualifying time of 18:53.28. In addition, Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) finished in 19:06.04, while Michelle Jansen (Warrington/Central Bucks South) ran a 19:27.19.
At 10,000 meters, Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) ran a PSAC qualifying time of 38:50.
On the men's side at 5000-meters, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp/Seneca Valley) finished in 15:01.85, while Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) qualified for the PSAC championships with a time of 15:30.22. Ben Holmes (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) ran a personal-best time of 16:08.03. At 1500-meters, Dan Tallarico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) finished in 4:12.76, while in the steeple chase Jim Stockley (Elverson/Twin Valleys) ran a 10:01.10.
On Saturday at the Bucknell Distance Carnival, Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) ran a 32:43 in the men's 10K.
Also on Saturday, the Huskies had several members at the West Chester Invitational. Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/Pius X) had an outstanding event taking first in the long jump in 16 feet 1.5 inches, while also finishing second in the 200-meters in 26.92 seconds; third in the 400-meters in 61:45 seconds and anchoring the second place 4 x 400 meter relay team.
Suzie Wade (Watsontown/Warrior Run) took first in the 400-meter hurdles in 72.23 seconds, while at 1500-meters Christa Johnson (Nescopeck/Berwick) was fifth in 5:18.13. At 3000-meters, Ella Daniels (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) was second in 11:16.
